The CW played the front on the Grove and the back on the Lake course. Our jolly band of competitors ran into a group from the AT&T Tues contest and much chatter was heard from both groups. Truly you know your playing a little to much golf when you appear at a strange course and the other foursomes know you. So off to the par 5 first hole which Greg takes a strong lead with a birdie to go up by 3 strokes.2nd had a group of bogies and the par 3 third had Mr. Mann even par through 3 with a 5 stroke lead on the field.  Don't touch that url. it is never over until its over in the CW. Today that statement will ring truer than ever before, so read on....

Greg had a little slippage on the 4th and 5th holes as he came back to the field to lead by only 1 stroke. His par on 6 put him up by 2 on CW and the race was on. Mean while JR and Lou where having their own battle to see who would have the honor of buying the winners lunch. Coming home the 7th 8th and 9th CW picked up one on Greg while JR started a slow crawl back winning a stroke on each of the holes.  We make the turn Greg up by 1 on CW, JR trails CW by 2 and Lou follows him by 3.

Its always a challenge playing a new course and it was evident on that front nine as our boys left many shots short or hit the wrong side of the green.  Let it be known the greens out there are in poor shape. That accounted for at least 4 strokes per competitor.

10th hole Greg continues to leak oil as the boys pick up another stroke on him.  Yet just when they believe he is going to fold he goes out and gets another par to a group of bogies.  JR and Lou are now only interested in what CW is doing as Greg seems a lock for 1st. Lou gets his chance on the par 3 12th when CW and JR find the hazard and record 6's  Lou's 4 closes that gap but Greg's 3 stretches the lead. Next hole sees Lou giving one back while CW and Greg tie.  JR has no putter today, that is all I can say.... On the 14th Lou picks up another one on the field and says I may just pass JR and CW today.  The next hole he closes again on CW as he and JR tie with Greg. Then we come upon Amen Corner.  A lovely hole was said by Mr. Mann as they tee'd up their drives. A light whistle in the trees confirmed that it may not be to lovely today for our Mann as he proceed to give up three strokes to CW.  Can you say Game On!  Then on to the par 3 17th.

What's with the 17th hole in the CW anyway.  We have seen a number of birdies at this hole which separated a tight match.  Today the 17th has the same electricity, as we step up to the tee box. Greg is in the lead by 1 over CW and Lou is 1 back of JR for the honor of buying the winners lunch. So let it be said tension was in the air. Our leader had the tee box and the opportunity to put all the pressure on the trailing group when what should occur but the dreaded shank and he is OB. CW places a drive in the fairway and escapes with a 4 and takes the lead by 1 going to the 18th tee.  JR pars the hole to take a 1 shot lead on Lou.

Now women and children and folks of all ages we will attempt to describe the indescribable implosion of none other than our most favored CEO and name sake CW.
There we are with a lot of activity around the golf carts as the buzz catches on that CW is now in the lead by 1 with one to play. As Lou and JR confer on their score cards and CW looks on Greg strolls to the tee box and blasts his drive in the middle of the fairway.  That is the only way to recover from a terrible hole and a great way to put pressure on the competition. So CW has the opportunity he has been waiting for, for some time. He tee's up his ball and ( did I tell you about the hazard on this hole? well it is at least a 130 yard carry with high Saw grass and cattails that just love to grab your ball ) launches his drive low across the hazard it hits and bounds out of bounds.  His next drive is caught by the cattails. His next, you get the picture. Moments later we find our boys in the fairway about 230 yards out and CW hits his 8th shot to within 115 yards of the green. He would record the max for the hole (reference match 11). Greg would hold on to win by 2 over JR and 3 over Lou.
CW had the joy of hosting the winners Lunch and showed his good sportsmanship.

Truth be known CW took his driver to Edwin Watts and the confirmed it seems his equipment has cracked a weld.  Due to age.  Same can be said for Old CW.  His driver was last seen being boxed for a trip back to the factory.  So the questions everyone has to ask are.   Will CW ever see that opportunity again on the 18th tee box? and Will that time com before his new driver has the same issue (a cracked weld "BECAUSE OF AGE")?
